Task 1: Project Initiation

During Task 1, the consultant team will meet with staff and the project oversight committee to finalize the project work plan. Prior to this meeting, Powhatan County staff will transmit to the consultant team all relevant background documents and information for review, including prior plans and reports of implementation, regional and local plans, transportation studies, environmental studies, infrastructure studies, related plans, development codes, and other relevant background studies and information. The team will review this information prior to its initial meeting. A set of meetings and tours of the county will be scheduled to take place over a two-day period, to include a meeting with the committee.

An important goal of Task 1 will be to identify components of the 1998 plan that are to remain intact.

A day-long workshop will be scheduled and conducted to bring together members of six existing citizen work groups and the advisory committee, at which time each of the six work groups and the committee will be asked to present the status of work to date completed by that group, including presentation of data and analyses that have been completed.

A website will be established during this task to promote dissemination of information about work in progress.
